In recent years, the mental health of workers has come to the fore as it has become recognised that work activities can cause harm to their wellbeing.
Of the reported cases of ill health, stress accounted for 50%, as much as all the other cases put together.
But when you realise that one in four people in the UK will have a mental health problem at some time, this statistic seems less surprising.
People already suffering from anxiety and depression, perhaps caused by their home circumstances or from pre-existing conditions, bring these issues to work where they can be exacerbated and affect how they carry out their duties.
