2. Mandatory Inspections
In almost every workplace, there is equipment or work areas which require mandatory external inspection.
The most commonly required of these inspections are as follows: Fire safety equipment Electrical testing Legionella testing Asbestos survey (for buildings constructed before 2000) Lifts Lifting equipment Compressed air systems Roller shutters Work vehicles Items which require calibration Warehouse racking Boilers and heating systems Gas safety Plant room equipment Scaffolding Etc This is not a definitive list – you may well have other items in your workplace or which are used by your organisation which also require mandatory inspections.
All such inspections must be carried out by suitable competent (and suitably qualified if relevant) persons, and it is up to the Director(s) to make sure due diligence has been carried...
