4. Eye Tests and Glasses
This is another topic which has caused confusion. Some workers think it is their employer’s responsibility to pay for their glasses, but this is not the case. The rules are as follows: Employers must arrange and pay for an eye test for DSE users if they ask for one.
Employers only have to pay for glasses for DSE work if the eye test shows that the employee needs special glasses prescribed for the distance the screen is viewed at
If an ordinary prescription is suitable, employers do not have to pay for glasses. Employers should advise their workers to help themselves to look after their eyes.
