3. Training Needs Following an Accident or Near Miss
The section on Accidents and Near Misses sets out the steps to be taken when things go wrong in the workplace.
Every accident or near miss must be investigated to find out what went wrong and to identify the measures to be taken to prevent a recurrence. All relevant workers must be trained in these new measures.
This could be because a work process has been changed to make it safer.
Or a worker must acquire new skills (or improve existing skills) to work more safely.
Whatever training requirements are identified in the investigation, they must be implemented as soon as possible.
