4. Irregular Risk Assessments

Not all hazards can be assessed using the standard risk assessment form.

The vast majority will follow the process set out on previous pages, but some hazards dictate a different approach.

The most common hazards which are assessed differently are Manual Handling, New and Expectant Mothers, Young Persons and First Aid and how to tackle these is detailed below.

In future, if you find that you cannot assess a hazard satisfactorily using the standard form – don’t worry.

Stick to the principles you have learned so far, and you should be able to develop your own methods.
