5. Reviewing Risk Assessments - Keeping Them "Live"

It is a legal requirement to review risk assessments to make sure they remain relevant.

The frequency of the reviews depends on a range of circumstances. Annual Reviews There is no legal timeframe for this, so it’s up to each organisation to decide when a review is necessary.

We recommend that, as an absolute minimum, risk assessments are reviewed annually.

A thorough review means going through every section of a risk assessment to make sure it still reflects the reality of the workplace. Frequent Reviews While annual reviews are satisfactory for low-risk environments such as office-based organisations, risk assessments for more hazardous workplaces should, we recommend, be more frequent.
