8. Planning a Journey
The stressors that are associated with driving can be minimised to some extent by careful planning. Whilst some factors such as traffic and the behaviour of other road users are out of your control, ensuring that the routes are carefully planned, that work schedules are realistic and that enough time is provided to cover the distance will go some way to reducing stress which in turn will reduce the likelihood of an accident occurring. Routes When planning the routes, always do this thoroughly and where possible involve the driver. Always opt for the safest routes, and not always the quickest.
Make sure that the routes chosen are the most appropriate for the type of vehicle undertaking the journey.
